Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia

Mission

Saint Lucia is located in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean, between Martinique, St. Vincent and Barbados. Known affectionately as the Helen of the West due to her outstanding natural beauty, Saint Lucia was fought over by the British and the French, and changed hands no fewer than fourteen times before finally becoming independent in 1979. Saint Lucia is a relatively small island yet boasts numerous white sand beaches, vast expanses of tropical flora and fauna in the rainforests of the interior, cosmopolitan shopping, dining and nightlife in the north, ample opportunities for golf, diving, hiking, kayaking, sailing and of course the Pitons – twin volcanic peaks designated as a World Heritage Site and described by Oprah Winfrey as a ‘must-see’ during your lifetime!

History

“Members of the Devaux family have owned various lands in St. Lucia at one time or another, but that of Morne Courbaril, at Soufriere, is the only one which remained in the hands of the family for more than two centuries. It seems that no other St. Lucian estate has remained so long in the same family. In the 1740’s the sugar planters of Martinique suffered a decline in prosperity. Some of them sought to improve their fortunes by selling their sugar estates and establishing coffee plantations, which required less capital expenditure on slaves and on equipment. Several planters moved from Martinique to St. Lucia, which was still largely unoccupied, so that land could be obtained for little more than the cost of clearing the forest and bush. What do people say about Morne Coubaril Estate?

We had a buffet lunch in their open air restaurant as part of a tour stop. Food was excellent. The grounds were beautiful. Very friendly staff and the general manager was very courteous.

Beautiful experience. First time we do a zipline. The staff is very competent and prepared, as well as being all very nice and nice. Also beautiful is the context inside the forest and the view it enjoys. Highly recommended.

Our tour started off with a delicious creole chicken lunch in the restaurant. After lunch we had a guided tour of the plantation, with the friendly and helpful guide showing us the recreated workers village and providing much detail. We saw the great house but didn’t go in. Then a donkey powered mill - historical steps to producing sugar cane syrup, also cocoa production and processing coconuts. We got to try the coconut water. It was very interesting and you can buy the estate’s chocolate in the gift shop.

Dalton was our tour guide and he was great. Very informative and funny, too. Very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. I didn't taste ALL the rum but my husband did, thoroughly enjoyed it. In between rum tastings, there were chocolate samples. We booked an early tour so it was just two of us with him, very personalized!

We've visited Morne Coubaril 3 times over the years as we love the tours and especially the zip lining! We went with our kids and we felt super safe the whole time. The staff is very knowledgeable and fun to be around.

We had the most wonderful start to our St Lucia trip here! My family and I elected for the rum and chocolate tasting tour and it far surpassed our expectations. The estate was gorgeous and lush, and we especially enjoyed getting to taste fresh cocoa pods and coconut and learning about all the medicinal herbs in the garden. Our guide, Jonathan, was so kind, enthusiastic, and shared with us so much information about the island culture and history! The hospitality was truly excellent, and the delicious rums and chocolate were the cherry on top. Couldn’t recommend this more highly as a great way to expose yourself to island history, culture, and cuisine!

We had a great time ziplining. I was afraid it would be challenging for my wife, but she really liked it. She wasn’t sure at first if it was a good idea or not. Very safe environment and one of the guides always goes first and takes video of each of our zip. Very easy to do and well explained. The last zip gives you a view of the Pitons.

Vielen Dank an Bernika. Es war uns ein Genuss, dich kennenzulernen.

Can’t say enough about this experience. All staff were so friendly and helpful. Both Dalton/ Emory were excellent zip lining instructors/ zip companions who ensure you have the safest, informative, and exciting time. They also take a plethora of pictures/ videos of you on Your phone; so no photo pressure at the end of your experience. Dalton also hosted a rum tasting; sampled 13 different rums to cap off the morning. Highly recommend Mourne Coubaril

First off. Amazing staff. The two gentlement that took our family on the zip line were fantastic. The zip line was great, there are about 7 different zip lines they take you on, and they capture pics and video for you, and make you confortable and want to make sure you have fun. These two guys were great. Would recommend anyone that has an hour or two to spare give the zip line with them a shot.

Super relaxed atmosphere. We chose to walk over from our resort and felt safe on the roads and would suggest doing the same to avoid some resort fees if you can. We did the zip lining. It was a lot of fun and very safe. Our guides were hilarious, especially Dolton, who gave us a bit of history on the views we were seeing, grabbed us some sweet peas from the trees, and was good for some jokes. If you bring your phone the guides are great about taking pictures and videos for you, so don't worry about that. There are locked lockers to store your belongings, with a group of 4 on a weekday afternoon it took around 45 minutes. Tapu Tapu
